There are many reasons why a person might choose to live or visit Mississauga and if you're a fan of shopping than one of them is likely going to be Square One Shopping Centre. This is the largest retail shopping centre in Ontario and people come to look for everything they need from fashion to household goods? Find a store directory at: Square One Shopping Centre.

Square One is anchored by the Hudsons Bay, Holt Renfrew, and Walmart and contains at least 360 stores in total. Some of the other larger stores are the Gap, Home Outfitters, Old Navy, and Victoria's Secret. The shopping centre is set in quite a bustling section of Mississauga, with both the Living Arts Centre and the Mississauga Civic Centre just across the street from the mall. You will also find many people who are working for a Mississauga tax accountant office for instance, to those living in a downtown Toronto condo that are now choosing to live in this area. There is a movie theatre on site and the Mississauga Central Library is nearby.

Every summer one of the lots in the parking area of the mall is turned into one of the area's largest Farmer's Markets. There are also several events, from sales to charity programs, that are run throughout the year on the property. If you're coming in after working in a Mississauga warehouse space to do your Christmas shopping at this mall than you will find that the place seems completely transformed at this time of year.

Square One Shopping Centre was built between 1969 and 1973 when what is now the neighborhood of Streetsville was a separate village and not yet a part of Mississauga. The anchor stores then were Woolco, the Bay, Sears and Dominion and there were about 170 stores in total. So this has been a shopping staple for the community and people have been coming from much further away than Mississauga Ontario real estate for some decades now. The major expansion of the space happened between 2000 and 2003 when 320,000 square feet were added. The movie theatre was added in 2005.

This mall can certainly boast as being at the height of retail within Ontario and Canada. This was the first shopping centre in the country to get a Victoria's Secret and one of the first with its own Apple Store. This is why so many people who live downtown still choose to come out to this location to do their shopping for everything from cloth diapers to jewelry rather than staying in Old Toronto and shopping districts like Yorkville, Queen Street West or Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
